San Diego Activities for Kids at Botanical Gardens

One of my favorite places to take my kids on the weekends and in down time from school is the San Diego Botanical Quail Gardens.  From the Children’s Garden with an adorable play house, water play area, and fountains, to digging for dinosaur eggs, and climbing the big tree house my kids love spending time running free in the safe, enclosed and beautiful environment.

In the link below find the latest activities for kids and any upcoming summer events that may interest you.  One of my boy’s favorite all time events is the Insect Festival on July 12th and 13th.  It is a must to go and try the BBQ Meal Worms.

Insect Festival 2014
July 12 and 13
10:00 am – 4:00 pm

This one-of-a-kind event features thousands of fascinating creepy-crawlies including live insects, lizards, snakes, and the famous “Madagascar hissing cockroaches.” Children can practice bug collecting, hands-on insect arts and crafts, and even taste cooked mealworm larva (in various flavors such as mesquite, teriyaki, and barbeque!). Entomologists and other bug experts will be available for questions and more than 20 informational booths will teach and entertain children and adults alike. Sponsored by the County of San Diego Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures, K&M Pest Solutions Inc. and
the San Diego Botanic Garden.

Cost: Free for members and children 12 and under.
Non-members free with admission

Happy summer planning!
